Samsung NV10 Digital Camera offers still pictures that are sharper and more detailed than most digital cameras around. This 10-megapixel digital-camera features the distinctive Life-Style appearance along with an innovative Smart-Touch control pad, a sleek, brushed black aluminum body and compact design. The Samsung NV10 Digital Camera, measuring just .7-inches thick, includes a Schneider 3x optical zoom lens (35-105mm equivalent), a 5x digital zoom and a large, 2.5-inch color LCD display. Advanced Shaking Reduction (ASR) provides enhanced image clarity by electronically compensating for excess hand shake and improving color in environments lacking sufficient lighting where the use of the electronic-flash is not desirable. For crystal-clear images under various shooting conditions, the NV10 features 11 scene modes, including Night, Portrait, Children, Landscape, Close-up, Sunset, Backlight, Fireworks, Beach & Snow and Text Recognition. Text Recognition, a feature unique to Samsung digital still cameras, allows users to shoot documents such as books, papers and magazines and then extract text from the image taken using the bundled ?Digimax Reader? text recognition software.
In addition to its incomparable still picture quality, NV10 can record in VGA (640x480) at 30fps, for smoother video and a larger view of the movie on LCD and TV screens. It also includes a movie stabilizer function that automatically detects and corrects minor lateral and vertical camera movement. For additional control, the continuous video recording function allows the user to pause and resume video recording at any time, while the built-in movie editing function allows users to edit video in-camera. There are also several special effects functions for creative control in-camera, such as Color Effect, Highlight, Photo Frame, Negative and Composite Shot. Color effects include B/W, sepia, blue, green and red. Overall, a great camera for all seasons and reasons.

"Elegant design and craftmanship/implementation.Complete feature set. The user interface design is intuitive and very easy to navigate. Most significant is the ability to access all available settings (for the selected mode) from a single button without the need to go into setup and then submenus.Several useful new (?) features/selectable modes including: AEB single shutter press = 3 shots with auto EV shift (+/-.5), Double Self Timer = the ability to add automatic second shot to self-timer mode at +2 seconds, and non-destructive editing of images on camera (modified image is saved as an additional image). Electrons are free and memory is cheap so... Fill Flash works very nicely. Announced NV11 appears to have same feature set but with 5X optical zoom.

Problems Encountered: Auto focus hunts and then settles for slightly-out-of-focus (noticeably blurred lines and text) at short distance (8-18) despite mode changes. High ISO is worthlessly noisy.Requests to samsung camera support contact page remain unanswered. Proprietary (?) USB charging cable is seemingly unavailable which leaves me with a petite object de arte. From the Samsung site DC power input connector : 24pin Connector and New recharging options, supports high capacity SBP-4442 battery kit(Optional) yet, on 17 Feb 07 the Accessories page states: Camera accessories are unavailable at this time. Please come back soon. The Specifications page lists Remote Controller (specifications - shooting - still image) however, I just re-checked my box and none was included. The value for the money proposition is difficult to answer given my inability to charge Samsung NV10 Digital Camera. Ya', my fault - but I should be able to buy a new cable...

"I was debating between the Canon S3 IS and this camera. TheCanon had this camera whipped in every way except in size. Idid not want a camera that would get left behind because ofits bulk.I went ahead and bought this one. The battery lasts alittle less than other cameras, so buy an additionalbattery. You may only get 180 shots out of it but what goodis a 500 shot battery in the camera left at home? Thereforethis one is small enough to carry and you will have it atevery opportunity.Due to its very light weight I find that video is jitteryfrom my movements. Practice makes perfect.Built in frames are cute and provide entertainment for some.Saves you a step when making pictures for a calendar or lovenotes.I love the metal build of the camera. No plastic that lookslike metal, this is metal!Built in lens shade is very nice. I wish you needed to presstwo buttons to turn on the camera, or have a switch so thatpower can completely be removed. If you turn on the camerain your pocket you my have lens issues.Lastly, keep your fingers away from the flash, because ifthe camera decides to pop up the flash and you have itcovered, you risk having to power down Samsung NV10 Digital Camera to clearthe issue.

"Samsung NV10 Digital Camera is a real treat to use. It is sharp looking as well as a great pic taker. Out of the box and set on auto guarantees great lifelike color pics! With this camera you will find the most accurate and life-like colors of any digi cam out there...and I own 10 of them!

Pics are contrasty and have a very Kodachrome-like quality about them. Positively the best auto white balance outdoors I have seen.

The interface with the smart buttons is unique and very easy to use. The LCD screen is bright and vivid..one of the best.

Pics have a little noise but when printed you will not notice.

A keeper in my book. Nice job Samsung!"

"After reading reviews for months to buy a compact camera, I have managed to locate this Samsung NV10 Digital Camera. To tell you the truth I am more than happy. And with the price of under £100 it can't be better.
I do filming for weddings etc and get to see hundreds of digital cameras taking shots of Bride and Groom. I haven't seen even one that takes an instant picture soon as the button is pressed. The NV10 does take the shot quite quickly I have to say. Faster than any I have seen.
And that is not the only thing which is impressing. The design is great and feels solid and has a pop up flash when it needs. The other brilliant thing is the touch screen. Actually the screen is not touch operated. It's the buttons that are located at the sides of the screen. They operate on by just touching it. No need to press except for few. I have been playing with it for few days now and loving it.
The picture quality is great, takes picture very fast and looks SEXY.
I have also brought the case to go with the camera. Together they Rock!
I am planning to get another one from Amazon. So that should tell you everything.
I have given it 5 stars as I am totally happy with it in everyway. "
