Innovatively-designed, the Samsung Optio NV7 7MP Digital Camera comes in a 20.9mm thin black aluminium body with a lens barrel using Samsung's unique blue ring and a pop-up flash. The lensbarrel is a clue to the high quality picture taking experience the NV7 OPS offers.

Optical capability to take scenery, sports, or other challenging shots, and its innovative UI is expected to attract enthusiasts and those looking for an advanced and easy-to-use camera. The NV7 OPS' Motion Capture option offers up to20 XGA (1024x768) pictures at 7fps and up to 50 images can be turned into GIF Animation, great for analyzing that golf swing.

The NV7 OPS also supports TV quality MPEG-4 VGA (640x480) 30 fps video, and a Photo Gallery function for a better picture viewing experience; it can be recharged while connected to USB, or by using the high capacity SBP-4442 battery recharge kit.

"I would describe myself as a point and shoot amateur user who uses his cameras mostly to take pictures of his children and the occasional building or landscape and any pictures I develop are 8x11 and smaller.

Things I like about the camera include:

-Solid construction.

-Optical Picture Stabilization(OPS) in addition to ASR mode. The OPS feature does not appear to add any time to picture processing like ASR modes do.

-Smart button interface. It took a little bit to get used to but navigation through settings and adjustments is much faster than using the typical 4 sided dial with the enter button in the middle, especially since you can get both thumbs involved. I find that with the smart button interface I'm not guessing which direction/button to push because it's displayed on screen. It's almost like using a laptop mousepad, or an iPod input.

- The settings that can be changed. My other point and shoot/compact cameras do not have nearly as many changeable settings as far as picture taking goes. (ie: shutter speed, aperature value, cooler/warmer color value, sharpness, brightness,5 focus types,[including manual]). And changing the settings is much easier and faster with the Samsung Optio NV7 7MP Digital Camera.

-Threaded lense to accept 43mm filters. Which allows the use of a full time protective filter to help prevent damage to the lense.

Things I dislike, or think need improvement:

-Short Battery Life.

-When in movie mode the recording of sound turns off while zooming.

-Processing time when in ASR mode.

* If a viewfinder is a must then look elsewhere as the NV7 does not have one. I have not had any problems with taking pictures using only a monitor with the exception of being zoomed out all the way and trying to track a fast moving object,(landing F16). Other than that the moniors viewing angle and brightness have made it an acceptable alternative to a viewfinder for me."

"This is an awesome camera for someone who is a hobbyist in photography and doesn't want to break the bank on a DSLR (like me). I have seen pictures from my NV7 and DSLR's next to eachother and could not even tell the difference. The NV7 takes beautiful pictures in virtually any condition. Low/high light, portaits, landscapes, you name it. I have been taking a lot of nature shots with it this autumn and the colors and clarity are second to none. The 7-megapixels, 7x Schneider-Kreuznach lens, and shake reduction are to thank for that. I've got nothing but good things to say about Samsung Optio NV7 7MP Digital Camera so go try one for yourself."

"I borrowed my friend's Samsung Optio NV7 7MP Digital Camera when I went to New Zealand for my sister's wedding. I wanted something that took better pictures than my old basic Sony camera. I was very pleasantly surprised with the NV7 having not had any prior experience to Samsung cameras. Yes, the lens makes the overall camera a little chunky but it's worth it when you see the picture quality and it does include a 7X optical zoom. It's also much smaller and tons more convenient that lugging a big SLR out on the plane. I'm sure the advanced shake reduction and optical picture stabilisaton made the photos come out great in the church. Needless to say, I didn't use a flash and being the emotional sort I am - was a bag of nerves so I'm impressed the pictures have come out clear and crisp.
But most of all, I love the design of this camera. It's so new and sleek. Since I've come back and checked out the good NV7 reviews, this lovely bit of kit is definately going on my birthday wish-list!! "

"i am studying art and Samsung Optio NV7 7MP Digital Camera is perfect. its versatile, has a range of features and is relatively easy to use.
my brother takes photography very seriously and recently bought an SLR for about 3x the price of the NV7 but they are very similar in quality, and features such as the super macro on the NV7 definitely rival, if not beat, that of the SLR.
often times its a bit worrying taking a good camera out and about with you in case it gets damaged, but the NV7 is a sturdy thing and because its price is affordable in terms of camera standards, you can risk damaging it in order to get a perfect photo- i've been taking it around with me constantly since i got it a few months ago, got loads of brilliant shots that i never would have with a normal camera- and its still intact.
a lot of reviews talk about problems with noise - i've only had problems with this on a setting with high ISO, and even so its barely noticable. my advice would be to use it to your advantage, shots in black and white work nicely with noise.

"I have a few pro DSLR cameras but bought this as a "work" cam. I like it the design its good and solid and the pics are fine. I have not had problems with noise some other reviewers mention however I work in Africa and there is usually (well in the daytime anyway) plenty of strong sunlight so low iso=low noise. Gripes: The Samsung Optio NV7 7MP Digital Camera lens cap keeps coming off esp. in the pocket, so I secure it with thick elastic bands. The zoom is quick but the zoom button seems to have a mind of its own. I didnt get a manual with the camera but its easy to work out and I like the touch buttons. Dont put the camera in your back pocket,if you sit on it, you will probably have to have your hip replaced. Anyway, as I said I like it and its retro look. I would most likely buy it again given the choice over again. "
